WHY
COUNTRY WOOD FLOORING?
We
have been in wood floors manufacturing industry since 1990's. Our wood flooring
has been sold to worldwide successfully. With advanced technology and quality
control system, we could provide our customers best quality products at
affordable cost.
The bamboo flooring is typically made of all
bamboo, 3 5/8 inches wide by 5/8 or 3/8 inch thick, 3 or 6 feet in length, and
there are two sorting methods by manufacturing process.
SORTED BY STRUCTURE: Bamboo flooring could be classified by horizontal
and vertical kind according to the structure of bamboo strips. Horizontal
process: Under high hydraulic pressure, the bamboo strips are glued together
along horizontal orientation, then are laminated three layers along vertical
orientation, then follow to be tongued and grooved. Horizontal products has
obvious node and clear grain. Vertical kind: Bamboo strips are laminated
directly along vertical ply, Vertical product has obvious stripe and close
grain, which is more durable. But its cost is higher.
SORTED BY COLOR: Bamboo flooring could be classified by natural and carbonized
color according to the color processing. Natural color: After soaked in
boiling H2O2 solution and dried, the bamboo strips are
processed directly to natural bamboo flooring. The natural kind of bamboo
floor takes on showy color of dried bamboo which is white trending to light
yellow. Carbonized color: After soaked in boiling H2O2
solution and dried, the strips are carbonized and vulcanized in carbonized kiln,
then are processed to carbonized flooring. The carbonized color is usually
brown, which the shade could be adjusted by changing carbonized time. The
carbonized color make you home warm and steady-going. The carbonized floor’s
mechanical and physical properties are much more stable.
There
are more than one thousand bamboo species in the world but the coloring, texture
and tensile strength varies greatly. China
is the country with the most abundant bamboo resources, which it has more than
3000 years history of using bamboo. The bamboo is an indispensable part of
eastern culture. Phyllostachys
Pubescens (maozhu) is the best species with the highest quality in bamboo family
popularly to be used to produce flooring. Its quality, grain and durability are
more excellent than some hardwoods for floors.
WHY
BAMBOO FLOOR?
Bamboo
is attractive as a building material because it is very hard, strong,
dimensionally stable and environmentally friendly. 27% harder than Northern Red
Oak, 13% harder than hard Maple, Bamboo unlike most hardwood trees requiring
many years to grow to maturity, it can be harvested every 3 to 5 years
and is renewably harvested over and over from the same plants.
MOTHPROOF
AND MILDEWPROOF PROCESS: Before putting into production line, the hollow round
shoots of bamboo are sliced into strips, which are soaked in boiling solution of
H2O2 at least two hours, to remove the starch, soluble
carbohydrates sugars and extractives which can result in moth-eating and mildew.
So the bamboo floor is treated to get rid of insect and mildew damage with more
better mechanical and physical properties.
SPECIAL
FINISHED PROCESS: The surface of all flooring must be pre-finished with 5 coats of 100% UV
cured Acrylic Urethane. The 5 coats are coated one after another by UV primer,
UV Aluminum Oxide lacquer(AL2O3,), UV putty
sealer, UV sealer, anti-scratch top coat. Furthermore other five surface are
painted one layer of airtight paint to be free from affected with damp.
●Bamboo floor is stronger and more flexible than almost any
wood flooring presently available.
●Compared by Oak and maple, it is harder and the
water-absorption and thickness-swelling are much lower.
●More dimensionally stable(less expansion and contraction)
than any commonly used wood flooring.
●The surface with five coats of paint is wear-resistant,
anti-scratch, compression-resistant, damp-proof and anti-corrosive. It will make
you easily to assemble and be free from maintenance.
●Its colors and clear grains products is beyond any wooden
material. .
●The products are pre-finished and can be easily installed and
also can be installed according to the designing during construction.

INSTALLATION
Bamboo flooring comes in planks and is installed just
like engineered hardwood floors. These floors can be installed over many
different types of sub-floors, which can either be nailed-down, glued-down and
is resistant to flammability.
A.
Before Installation
The
bamboo should be delivered to the job-site at least 72 hours before
installation. The boxes should be opened and the heating or air conditions
turned on so the floor can acclimate to its environment. Do not unload flooring
during wet conditions such as rain, snow, sleet, etc. Moisture absorbed by the
flooring boards will cause them to swell. if installed before acclimation, they
will subsequently shrink back to their in-service moisture content. this
shrinkage may produce gaps, which will cause problems with the finished floor
system.
Bamboo flooring can
be installed on wood sub-floor, the moisture content of the wood sub-floor at
the time of installation should be in the range of 8--10 percent. During
building construction, before the building is enclosed, the sub-floor may absorb
moisture from direct exposure to rain and weather. the building must be enclosed
and dried out before the installation of the bamboo flooring. sub-floors, which
are built with "performance-rated" 3/4-inch thick oriented standboard
(OSB)or plywood will produce the best performing bamboo floors. Also,5/8-inch
thick plywood may also be used. but 1/2-inch sub-floor products may lack
stiffness and nail-holding properties for good performance with bamboo flooring
products.
Buildings with crawl
space foundations should include a vapor barrier installed between the ground
and the sub-floor. This barrier will minimize the effect of moisture evaporating
into the crawl space environment that can migrate through the sub-floor and into
the bamboo flooring. The vapor barrier can be 4 to 6 mil polyethylene sheets
laid on the crawlspace floor. Proper air circulation is important to prevent
moisture build-up. At least two vents should be left open year round.
Furthermore, the building should be completely enclosed with windows and doors
installed prior to flooring installation. Freshly poured concrete slabs emits
many gallons of moisture as water vapor into the atmosphere of the building.
Therefore, no concrete should be poured after the flooring is installed, and an
adequate curing time (minimum 60 days) should be provided before installation of
the flooring.
B.
Installation
Bamboo flooring should be installed in manger similar to that used to other
types of solid hardwood flooring products. Before installation, the installer
must be sure that the sub-floor is solid, level, clean, and dry. Fifteen-pound
building paper (tar paper) should be laid directly onto the sub-floor. This
building paper minimizes squeaks caused by small movements of the bamboo
flooring after installation, and helps to reduce some moisture problems. The
difference between the moisture level of the sub-floor and the bamboo flooring
should be on more than 4%. Bamboo flooring can then be installed. Bamboo is a
product of nature. Because of the natural color variation in bamboo flooring
from piece to piece, it is important to work out four to five boxes at a time to
assure a beautiful blend of shading.
Nail- Down
Two-inch long
flooring nails (cleats),or 2-inch,15 gauge flooring staples with a 1/2-inch
crown, may be used to install 3/4-inch thick bamboo flooring. 1-1/4 to
1-1/2-inch long flooring cleats or staples can be used to install 3/8- inch
thick bamboo flooring. These fasteners are installed using pneumatic or
mechanically operated floor nailing guns which are struck with a rubber-faced
hammer to drive each board tightly against its neighbor and simultaneously fire
the nail or staple through the tongue of the bamboo flooring and into the
sub-floor.
Proper spacing
between nails is critical for a trouble-free. durable ,bamboo floor. Recommended
nail spacings are 8 to 10 inches apart along the length of each floor board.
Each floor board should be nailed at least 5 inches away from each and. During
installation, it is useful to scribe nail spacing lines directly onto the tar
paper with chalk. This allows the installer to easily identify the location of
each nail.
Glue Down
Bamboo flooring can also be installed over a concrete slab with Glue (a moisture
barrier is recommended even when a wood sub-floor is used). Once again, it is
very important than the installer is working on a flat, clean and dry base
floor. when the base is ready to use, glue the floor over the existing concrete
slab or a plywood sub-floor,using the glues that are recommended. Use any
top-quality wood floor adhesive of the market, such as Franklin or Bostik
brands.
C. Sanding and
Finishing
Bamboo flooring can be sanded like any other hardwood floor surface. Sweep the
floor immediately before sanding. Sanding and finishing the bamboo floors should
be one of the last jobs on a construction projects. This protects the floor from
foot traffic of other tradesmen during their work. Floor sanding involves using
a special floor sander, edge sander, and possibly a polisher with a disc
attachment for holding sand paper.
Sanding starts with
a coarse to medium grit sand paper. After sanding the entire floor with a coarse
grit sand paper, repeat with a medium grit and complete sanding with a fine grit
sand paper. This products a fine floor surface ready for finishing.
After sanding be
sure to apply the first coat of finish the same day that sanding was completed.
This prevents moisture from being absorbed into the surface of the flooring and
producing a rough, raised-grain appearance.
Bamboo floors can be
refinished a minimum of three times by following proper maintenance and care.
The finish may be damaged by spike heels, stone chips, gravel and scratches.
Furniture must have chair glides to protect the floor. Fading due to sunlight
may occasionally occur.
The floor can be
finished with products that are commonly used for other types of strip hardwood
flooring, including penetrating sealers, pigmented wiping stains, moisture cured
urethanes , and polyurethanes.
The techniques of
sanding and finishing require high skill and best results may be obtained by
employing professional floor finishers.
D. Moisture
Resistance
Bamboo flooring is made from the highest quality bamboo available. It has
stability properties that exceed most wood flooring products. However, Bamboo is
a solid, natural product and it will naturally expand when exposed to moisture,
but, usually much less than similar solid wood flooring. Excessive humidity
could cause cupping or buckling, so it is important to use an air conditioner or
dehumidifier in humid months, Expansion and contraction is not considered a
defect. proper acclimation of the bamboo prior to installation can help minimize
this naturally occurring phenomenon.
MAINTENANCE
Maintain
your bamboo floor as you would any hardwood floor. The key to your floors long
life and good looks is periodic cleaning and refinishing when necessary.
Protectors should be placed under the legs of furniture and floor mats placed at
entrances to the outdoors to collect dirt that can damage your floor finish.
Always follow the finish manufacturers recommendations for periodic
recoating.
